Abhishek Jhunjhunwala displayed his potential with a century on his Under-16 debut for Bengal. He has since developed into a reliable and technically correct No. 3 batsman and an important foil to the stroke-players in Bengal's middle order. A good first season in the 2005-06 Ranji Trophy saw him selected for the Duleep Trophy in 2006-07, and he mantained his form through that season. He joined the Indian Cricket League in August 2007, representing the Kolkata Tigers and making a great impression with his batting in the unofficial tournament. Jhunjhunwala severed ties with the ICL in 2009, and was granted amnesty by the BCCI. Sidharth Monga June 2009 |
